WINN Ministries News Briefs

In the Game

"I have been part of WINN Ministries off and on for about four years. I have seen this ministry help several churches. We have a wonderful and big-hearted man with a plan, Hank Salmans. This man has had a vision for many years on how churches can reach their communities, and it has been effective for years. Churches have grown and helped thousands of people.

"We still have many connections where we pick-up food, clothing, and household items. These connections have been very generous and we have a good bond with these people. God has blessed this ministry with the materials to help you, so you can bless your community. But we still need your involvement in prayer and in financial needs.

"As we all know gas prices are very high at this time. Our donations have come to an all-time low. And they were our main support for our pick-ups. As of August 11 we may not be able to afford to go do the runs as a normal every day function. So my plea to you and your congregations is to come together and pray and maybe dig deep and support WINN Minstries. For our door is always open to you, so maybe your door will be open to us. Step out in faith and let God lead your hearts."

Thank you and God bless, Big Steve

On the Field

We are excited at the prospect of finally building the ministry center that God gave Hank a vision of three years ago! We've moved past the first phase of "Sharing the Vision." We're now in phase two: looking for an artist to help us create a concept drawing of the ministry center. One that we can present to builders, congregations and investors. Next comes actually purchasing the land, and finally, building the actual facility. Start-to-finish we believe it can all come together in just a few months using pre-fab materials.  Optimistic? Absolutely! Do-able? Definately! Hank has previous experience in helping build and develop two business complexes. Combine his knowledge and experience, his vision and his passion, with God's help and YOURS, and we have a very possible, very exciting road ahead! Climb aboard!

The Cheer

Optimism

Merriam-Webster's definition of Optimism:  "an inclination to put the most favorable construction upon actions and events or to anticipate the best possible outcome. Akin to Latin ops power." It defines Hope as "to expect with confidence: trust."

Ever have hope for something that others said wouldn't happen? We do that here on a daily basis. The folks who tap into the resources that we provide also hope. Alexander Pope said, "Hope springs eternal in the human breast." I say it's this way:  "The Eternal One springs hope within the human breast." He plants hope within our hearts and teaches us to be optimistic.

When you live by faith, you're always "antipcating the best possible outcome." Therefore, you should also be optimistic. Add a dash of Vision and a bucketful of Hope and you have a recipe for something amazing.  As we mature, we learn based upon experience. As Believers, our optimism is based upon our knowledge and experiences of God. Even the dictionary connects it to "power."   We don't have to have all the answers. We just have to have faith. We hope, anticipate, believe and are optimistic because we know Who it is that holds the power: the King of Kings and Lord of Glory.

Optimistically,

The Cheerleader
