In the Game

"And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it." 1 Cor 12:26-27 NAS

Those of you who have been long time WINN partners can identify with verse 26.  I have been involved with WINN for about five years as A) Sr. Pastor of a church that was able to use the many resources that Winn provides to grow the church and help bring hope to the neighborhood around that church; B) a board member; and now C) Director of Operations.

Most of us can say we have benefited from the way the Lord has blessed WINN and in turn Winn has blessed our church. We have stories to tell about the single mom with three kids that that our church was able to help out at Christmas, the homeless families we were able to feed, the addicted we got off the streets, the folks in the congregation we were able to steer in the right direction to get jobs and the list goes on. Your church gets the honor and we rejoice with you. The staff here at Winn believes in what they are doing.

We don't want a pat on the back because we believe our treasure is being stored in heaven. What we do want to see is that more churches use the resources that we have built up. Here's the catch: we are suffering. If we don't get more support to cover expenses, the resources will dwindle and we won't be able to continue to grow and do the job we have been doing. Here is where verse 27 comes in. Individually you can make a difference. We are willing to do the leg work if you are willing to support us financially.  Please don't think the other guy will send in the support so you don't have to; he is having the same thought!!!!

"But someone may well say, 'You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.'" James 2:18 NAS

On the Field

This past Friday an exciting group from Colorado Christian University joined us for lunch. Each young person there was directly involved in a separate,  ongoing outreach ministry in Denver. They came by to learn about WINN and share with us their projects. We believe in connecting faith-related ministries. Not yet connected to us? We'd love to meet with you and to continue to help the Denver metro area lock hearts, not horns!

CHECK OUT THE DENVER NET! Dr. Lori McKinney has created a site called "The Denver Net" that's purpose is to serve as a format for updating Believers in the Denver Metro area regarding upcoming events. Check out this great blog spot at: thedenvernet.blogspot.com

Game Strategy

THINK THANKSGIVING! It's nearly Fall and Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. This year we will be continuing our efforts with Abiding Hope Lutheran Church. If your church is interested in reaching your neighborhood during this holiday, send Hank an email  at:  Hank@winnministries.org.

WE CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Pastor Tom Gonzales, the Spanish Pastor at Deliverance Tabernacle, has been a WINN partner for about 6 years. He says WINN "has been a tremendous help to us. It's helped thousands of people, really; the people who are too foor to buy food. It's a big blessing to Denver. There are so many churches that WINN helps."

Is your congregation partnering with us? If not, call us or send Hank an e-mail so we can show you how we can come alongside your church to lend a supporting hand. Why re-invent the wheel? With a background in law enforcement, a degree in Sociology and years of pastoral experience, WINN founder and director Hank Salmans has insights and experience to help you meet your church's challenges.

The Huddle

Special Notice:  As a result of increasing costs (like fuel and transportation) and the financial struggle we are currently in,  we are forced into a position whereby we must establish a new policy. For the time being, those churches and organizations that support us financially will be served first.

Set Free Church at Mile High is holding services on Saturday evenings at 5:30 PM at the WINN building: 125 South Kalamath, Denver. Pastor Doc Winters will be speaking. The 4th Saturday of the month there is an outreach event at the same location begining at 4pm. For questions call: 303-239-9123.

Refreshment Stand

What?! You haven't joined us for lunch in awhile? Or never??? You're missing out on great food and great opportunities for fellowship as well as outreach. You never know who's going to join us (like last week's CCU students!) or what's on the grill. Why not stop by for a visit from noon to 1pm and join us? We'd love to have you as our GUEST at the WINN office at 125 S. Kalamath, Denver.

The Cheer

Do you remember your specific calling? Your own, personal mission assignment from God? Are you living it, or are you so busy serving Him that it was somehow set aside on a shelf? I'd like to encourage you to take another look at it.

In just a few short weeks we will be entering the Fall mo'edim -- God's appointed times when He calls us to specifically meet with Him. When He asks you  what you've done with the "talents" He entrusted to you, will you lay before Him your "busy" list, or the jewel He assigned you to create? You know what it is. You've been side-tracked, side-swiped, and delayed so long, that your confidence is shaken.

Take heart, O servant of God!  I have a word for you: you have been recommissioned!   Now, go stand in the breeze of His Spirit and let Him blow the dust off!
