In the Game

An Invisible Presence - A Firm Commitment

My name is Fr. Phil. I pastor a small Anglican parish in Centennial. We are a church plant still looking for our "pot!" With no permanent building WINN Ministries provides an invaluable resource for us to tap as we reach into our surrounding neighborhood and city. I've know Hank and the ministry of WINN for more than a decade here in Denver.
Through that time I've witnessed his firm commitment to work through the local church as a "behind-the-scenes" "holy scrounger" to help supply needs through the front door of the church. In that sense his is an "invisible" presence. The analogy I make here to the powerful Presence of God's Spirit in our lives is quite intentional. This city has a servant - many in fact - who are gathered for power in WINN ministries. The challenge of course, with being invisible is that you are easily overlooked. But to get the most of both WINN and the Holy Spirit, the secret is simple... ASK!
WINN has been our silent partner in ministry to the hungry, ill-clothed and caught-in-the-grind folks that we meet in the everyday life of the city. Jesus ' test of faithfulness for the Church in Matt. 25 is how we provide for those who have less.
WINN serves Jesus, the Church & the poor in one swift move... through us who allow them to be the invisible presence behind our smiling faces as we fulfill God's command and destiny for the Church.

On the Field

This past week we were able to round up over 2000 various school supply items and deliver them to churches and ministries who are now putting them in the hands of children who "fell through the cracks" this year. We don't want to 'leave any child behind' either, so this effort was a particular joy for us. Got a tip on other items we can help get where they're needed? Contact Pastor Doc at the WINN office and pass the word!

Game Strategy

Did you know about the upcoming "Inspire the Creative Arts" conference or the one called "Divine Encounters of the Supernatural Kind?" You can find them and others on a site called "The Denver Net. " Dr. Lori McKinney designed it to serve as a format for updating Believers in the Denver Metro area regarding upcoming events. Check out this great blog spot at: thedenvernet.blogspot.com

The Huddle

WINN offers multiple coaching and training workshops!  We can help get your congregation out of the pews and into the neighborhood, help strengthen or rebuild your leadership team, and even mobilize your staff to handle  violence.  For more details on these and other training that we offer, call the office at 303-239-9123 or check out our website.

Please feel free to print-out and distribute our weekly online newsletter, "Off the Bleachers." We try to fill it with updates on our activities, how you can connect with other ministries, and a message to uplift and help carry you through your week. By sharing this newsletter with others, you could be instrumental in connecting them with resources they need for themselves or their ministry. Forward us along!

Set Free Church at Mile High is holding services on Saturday evenings at 5:30 PM at the WINN building: 125 South Kalamath, Denver. Pastor Doc Winters will be speaking. The 4th Saturday of the month there is an outreach event at the same location begining at 4pm. For questions call: 303-239-9123.

Refreshment Stand

Special Notice:  As a result of increasing costs (like fuel and transportation) and the financial struggle we are currently in,  we are forced into a position whereby we must establish a new policy. For the time being, those churches and organizations that support us financially will be served first.

The Cheer

I always consider carefully the words I use here. I believe it's important for our final note each week to impart words of encouragement. Most of you reading this are serving on spiritual  "front lines" where it's easy to grow weary with well doing. Periodically you find your "eagles wings" resembling humingbird wings. Time and again you are faithful to return to the Living Water to be cooled and refreshed. But we live in a harsh world that scorches and drains us.

Can I offer a simple word for this time? "Lean on Me."  ( Isaiah 48:2 "lean on the God of Israel") Go ahead and hum the tune and realize that He really IS there for you. After all, we're "friends."

Be of good cheer!
