In the Game

We have a dilemma ... the holidays are coming soon, you know Thanksgiving and Christmas.   We have folks and companies that usually have donated to WINN turkeys, other food, toys and items for these holidays.   We have no place to warehouse items.   We want to help churches help families but ….

Those of you who have visited us know we have stuff packed and stacked everywhere!  No matter how much we give away through the churches we serve, we keep getting more.   After 10 years, folks know that we find “stuff.”   We really like the idea of being located in a light industrial area along the Santa Fe corridor.   We will consider any location in the Denver metro area and we are mindful of accessibility to the churches we serve.

We are looking for 5-10,000 square feet of warehouse. At worst-case, we need a warehouse to use temporarily as we work to build or remodel a more permanent home to establish a ministry center.  We have four trailers, 52 feet long each, packed with stuff we cannot get to at present.  There are plans tear down the building we are currently using for offices.

Please pray that we find a place.  Please call folks you know and help us help people in need.  There are buildings in the community that have been vacant, in some case for months or years, but it takes CONNECTIONS to open doors. Can you help?

Game Strategy

One of WINN's newest workshops, "Pray 15," is a 3-hour workshop for men based on Hank's new book by the same name. This is a dynamic plan that mobilizes men to serve their families through a leadership model. This is just one of several workshops we have to offer. Hank is available to speak to clubs, churches, and other organizations about mobilizing churches to serve the community (Acts 1:8 plans). He can be reached at 303-239-9123 or via email at:  hank@winnministries.org.

As we enter this season of "gathering,"  we're hoping and praying that you will join us. At WINN we know that the resources to meet the needs that exist are available: they just need to be gathered, networked and distributed. Please consider becoming an "Involved Neighbor Now." We can show you how to plug in to us and to your community. Give us a call at 303-239-9123.

The Huddle

Flip your calendar to November 27 -- Thanksgiving! A time to enjoy our families and be thankful for all God's good gifts to us. It's also a great season to remember our brethren who are going without due to job loss, sickness or other crisis. This year we will be continuing our efforts with Abiding Hope Lutheran Church. If your church is interested in reaching your neighborhood during this holiday, send Hank an email  at:  Hank@winnministries.org.

NOTE:   CHANGE OF TIMES FOR SERVICES AT SFC@MHPLEASE BE ADVISED THAT SATURDAY SERVICES WILL BE CHANGED TO SUNDAY SERVICES AT 5:30 PM BEGINNING SUNDAY OCTOBER 5TH.

Refreshment Stand

We're still serving lunch on Fridays! Why not stop by for a visit from noon to 1pm and join us at the WINN office at 125 S. Kalamath, Denver?

Please feel free to print-out and distribute our weekly online newsletter, "Off the Bleachers." We try to fill it with updates on our activities, how you can connect with other ministries, and a message to uplift and help carry you through your week. By sharing this newsletter with others, you could be instrumental in connecting them with resources they need for themselves or their ministry. Forward us along!

Yom Kippur

We know that God offers us forgiveness all year round, not just on the Day of Atonement. So what's the big deal? "Atonement" and "forgiveness" are not synonymous. Forgiveness means you have spoken an apology and were let off the hook. Atonement requires action to restore the relationship.

The word for "atonement" in Hebrew is "kaparah" which also means "wiping up." If you spill or break something in a friends' home and apologize, they will likely say, "I forgive you." You have not yet atoned for your mistake until you have cleaned it up and replaced it.

Making amends means you not only ask for forgiveness, but also that you take some action that will make it up to the person in a way that is meaningful to them. During this holy day (from sundown Wednesday until sundown Thursday) begin restoring relationships. God calls us to "humble your souls" during this day (Lev. 23:27). Whether you are asking God for a closer friendship with Him, or making amends with family, friends or those from whom you've become estranged, humility will go a long way.
