In the Game WINN is having a GRANDCHILD!!! We helped with the "birth" of The Englewood Lighthouse congregation almost 3 years ago. They have continued to faithfully support our ministry, and have benefited from the weekly food boxes, class supplies, etc., as well as our suggestions for outreaches and security. In the process, they're birthing a new Messianic congregation, Olam Fellowship, in the southwest Littleton area. Lighthouse pastor Peder Olsen said he feels "challenged by the task of planting, or helping plant one new congregation every year." Bart Ford, who was a vital part of our staff until a year ago, is the Executive Pastor of Olam. This Friday night at 6:30 pm their first official service will begin. They're meeting in the Family Foundations equipping center at 5935 S. Zang Street, Littleton (corner of Bowles Ave & Coal Mine by C-470). Parking and entrance is in the back of the building. A special "Birthing Day Cake" and refreshments will be served afterwards. Mazel Tov!!! On the Field This is a great opportunity for your church to Reach Outside The Walls as well as Inside the Walls and help people. This year it seems even more important to give some HOPE to folks that we, the Church, care about them. Right now we are planning for our Thanksgiving project in conjunction with Abiding Hope Lutheran Church. A few other congregations have expressed their interest in joining us. Our goal is to supply holiday food boxes for 800-1000 families. These boxes will be filled with non-perishable food items and a voucher to King Soopers for a turkey. Funds are needed to purchase many of the groceries and vouchers for items that we will not be able to "scrounge." If you'd like to participate by helping pack the boxes or distribute them, and/or donate toward the expense, please phone Hank as soon as possible. On Nov 19 we'll be unloading the food items, on the 21st we'll gather to pack the family food boxes, and then on the 22nd they'll be available for distribution. Again, if you can help as an individual or as a congregation, give us a call at 303-239-9123.Game Strategy There's no way that we (WINN) can continue to be effective without a warehouse. We are reaching "critical mass" here and NEED to have a permanent home. With Thanksgiving on it's way, we're expecting a lot of turkeys, holiday gift items, winter coats, blankets, etc. that we'll need to place in a warehouse while we identify churches and ministries that we will be able to send them to. We are looking for 5-10,000 square feet of warehouse. At worst-case, we need a warehouse to use temporarily as we work to build or remodel a more permanent home to establish a ministry center. Please pray that we find a place. Please call folks you know and help us help people in need. There are buildings in the community that have been vacant, in some case for months or years, but it takes CONNECTIONS to open doors. Can you help? The Huddle With the current financial panic taking place, we believers are positioned to step up and demonstrate practical Christianity. What an opportunity to put some action behind our words! Want to reach out to your community? Call or email Hank Salmans and put together a presentation for your congregation. Let us show you some practical, simple methods to truly connect with and help your neighbors. Find out what's going on around Denver! Call Pastor Doc at 303-239-9123 if interested. "Let's do lunch!" Say, this FRIDAY at noon, our office? We'll provide the food, smiles and company! Join us at 125 S. Kalamath, Denver. Oh, and come HUNGRY! The CheerShemini Atzeret After the 7 days of celebrating Tabernacles (Sukkot), God appointed one more festival day. The 8th day ("Shemini Atzeret"). The Bible doesn't give us a lot of explanation as to "why." When you consider it in the Hebrew mindset and continue to ponder these last few biblical feasts as part of a "wedding," it will take your breath away. On Feast of Trumpets, the cry of the shofar is like that of the Bride's heart crying, "Yes! I yearn to be joined to You!" The Day of Atonement is likened to the traditional Jewish fast of a bride and groom on their wedding day. The ceremony is followed by 7 days of feasting (Tabernacles), also known as "The Time of Our Joy." It is finally consummated on -- you've got it! The 8th day! For the first time, the Bride and Groom experience total intimacy. You probably already know that the number 7 represents "completion" in Scripture. Did you know the number 8 represents a "new beginning?" Your Bridegroom has already pledged Himself to you, and you have said, "I do." You have danced together and have been intimate. Maybe it's been awhile since that first dance. Consider "renewing your vows" and dancing again. It's the season of New Beginnings! "Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers." Song of Solomon 1:4 The Cheerleader |
