In the Game To say that we in this country are in the middle of some challenging times in an understatement. I keep being pulled to 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."Our churches must take the initiative to promote and evoke action. We have been called to 'go to the nations.' It must start where we are by taking steps forward. We must establish a "go" mentality in our neighborhoods and communities. The Santa Claus syndrome has caused some churches to spend time sitting in front of the fireplace waiting for Jesus to return. We can no longer be "in waiting." We are called to demonstrate our faith by our actions. At WINN we are called to serve churches by helping coach, teach, and encourage with 'action strategies' designed to reach inside and outside the church walls. If you believe you are called to make a difference in your community and want some help, please give us a call. We want to help you help people in the name of Jesus Christ. Call 303-239-9123 or go to the website: www.winnministries.org and use the contact link. -- H.R. Salmans, Founder & Director On the Field We know that despite the best plans, some families will "fall through the cracks" for help at Thanksgiving. At WINN we expect to help some 300 families, as well as provide food for a Thanksgiving Day meal for the homeless. Can you organize a canned food drive in your congregation? If each person in your church donated just one or two items, and we had 10 congregations help, it would be a very do-able goal. How about on your block? Can you ask a few neighbors to pick up an extra can of cranberry sauce or corn? A box of stuffing mix or biscuits? If you can help round up some holiday staples and get them to our office, you'll be spreading a whole lot of smiles around town. We'll have a smile to give you back, too -- a "Good Neighbor" thank-you certificate! Again, if you can help as an individual or as a congregation, give us a call at 303-239-9123. Game Strategy Okay, so maybe it isn't "Big News" to you that we STILL need a warehouse. Actually, you came by the office recently and noticed we were packed to the rafters, literally. Yep, a pretty solid clue that we are still limping along without one! What's amazing is the staggering amount of work that we're still doing despite desperately cramped offices, and with most of our provisions farmed out into temporary storage. What's REALLY amazing is what we can do when we're working from one location! We sorely miss not having the use of our enormous, walk-in refrigerator/freezer. That alone allows us to accumulate 2-3 weeks worth of frozen foods, as well as eggs, cheese and produce, so they're available when they're needed. Having a warehouse with an attached office is a need, not a want. If you can help us financially, or by finding a new location for us, please phone Hank at 303-239-9123 or email him at: hank@winnministries.org. Thank you!!!The Huddle We're looking for some dictation equipment. I (Hank) have a friend, a pastor, who has some disabilities that do not allow him to write or type well. He has a sharp mind and lots of wisdom that we are trying to get onto paper, maybe even a bookfor reaching communities, evangelism and just general wisdom. We have looked at the program called Dragon that allows some voice activated computer input, but have not tested it yet. If anyone has any knowledge of how it works, or if it does, we would like input. Thanks -- Hank Refreshment Stand We've STILL got Sunday School curriculum available. We have several boxes of old material. They're "old" in the sense of their date, but God's truths are timeless! Call the office if interested at 303-239-9123. We've still got costumes, too. LOTS & LOTS of them!. If you've got a drama team in your church, some of these items might be worth looking at. Give us a call! We eat year-round (well, not "non-stop," of course!) so every Friday we still serve FREE LUNCH! You're welcome to join us on Fridays from noon-1pm at our office for a free hot dog lunch! We're located 1 block north of Alameda on Kalamath (south-bound Sante Fe) at 125 S. Kalamath. The CheerRestoration My daughter is coming home. We sent her to a ministry in California last February for deliverance and healing. The saints there prayed with her, discipled her, and LOVED her. She recommitted her life to Christ, was rebaptized, and learned to listen to God's voice. Gone is the rebellious, lost drug-addict. The 24 year old woman who is coming "home" to me is a "new creation." Second chances are almost always available to us, but are seldom the road chosen. It's a harder, narrower path. The further we move away from our destiny, the further we must travel back. This applies to salvation, relationships, and even business. Two things need to be in place before the final goal is reached. First, a heart that's willing. An attitude that says, "Yes, I want to change myself (or circumstances)." Second, helping hands are needed to support the change. If you're already in the place God has called you, then stop and look around. Who there needs a helping hand up? Can you offer words of encouragement and hope? If you are the one needing change, be it your soul, your career, or your business, are you willing to say "yes" to new possibilities? Look within yourself, up to God, and around you for the courage and strength to walk through new doors. It'll be there. Thankful to serve a God of second chances! The Cheerleader |
