GET Off the BleachersWINN Ministries News Briefs 3 July 2008 |
In the Game It's summer time and your neighbors are outside again. It's a great time to meet the new families, re-establish relationships with older ones, and even repair some "breaches." Plan a neighborhood cook-out, block party, or suggest a picnic with a few families. Do weekly prayer walks through your neighborhood, greeting those you pass along your route. Feel bashful about introducing yourself to the guy who's lived next-door for 10 years? Don't wait another 10! He's feeling bashful too, so walk over a plate of cookies or popcicles on a hot day. Get some squirt guns, hand some to a few neighbors, and start a water fight! If you're still not sure how to meet folks, follow your kids. This is the season to follow Jesus' instruction to have hearts "like little children." Oh -- and have fun!On the Field Beginning in July, a flea market will be held in Grace Chapel's south parking lot. It is a separate, non-profit ministry and all funds raised by renting space and selling concessions will go to support Colorado and Denver area para-church Christian ministries. Go to www.fishandloavesfleamarket.org for details. The
Rocky Mountain National Prayer Conference,
We Bow Down will be

They're in Game Strategy Join us as plans are being made for a one-day march called, "The Glory March." On July 26, 2008 we will be marching with Hispanic congregations to the capitol in a show of unity to pray and celebrate our Lord together. The only flags displayed will be of the United States of America and banners with the Name of Jesus Christ. Just one people, one church, on one day claiming our state for our One God. Travel route will be in next newsletter. Call WINN with questions. The Huddle Office will be closed on July 4th. Set Free Mile High Church is holding services on Saturday evenings at 5:30 PM at the WINN building: 125 South Kalamath, Denver. Pastor Doc Winters will be speaking. For questions call: 303-239-9123. ALSO note that on the 4th Saturday of every month this congregation will be holding an outreach with City Church in conjunction with WINN at the same location beginning at 3pm. Starting next week donations to WINN Ministries will be more convenient! We've established a PayPal account so gifts to WINN can be done online, via one of the world's most secure on-line systems. Checks and cash are always welcome, and your prayers are even more-so! Refreshment Stand It's been awhile since we last heard from or saw many of you. If you live near the Denver area, please drop by on Fridays for lunch as our guests. We meet from noon to 1pm at 125 S. Kalamath, Denver. We collect new and good used clothing and household items for the Church to distribute to those in need. While we're waiting to move into our new warehouse space, we have 4 semi-trailers full of "stuff." We're about to fill a 5th unless you help us out by coming to collect and redistribute the boxes that are accumulating in our office. They're of no benefit to anyone if they're sitting in storage, so please give us a call today! The Cheer The Challenge Thousands of brave, valiant troops marched into battle with their General. As the battle grew heated, the troops gathered in a protective cirlce around their leader and then laid down their weapons. "We will die for you!" they cried, as one by one they were cut down by their enemies. The sad general was alone left standing, and wept as he said, "But I needed you to LIVE for me!" When I worked in public safety, I knew that I would willingly take a bullet for another. As believers, we proclaim our willingness to die for our Lord. But are we willing to stand up and FIGHT for Him? With Him? We're called to be "ambassadors" for Christ, not "body bags." The true challenge, you see, is not whether we would die for Him, but whether we will live for Him. I've been walking with my head in the clouds. Focussed on a life in Heaven, I've neglected to fully live the life that He appointed me on earth. God has issued me a challenge, and I am extending that challenge to you: Will you remain behind to show others the way? To embrace the hurting, the lonely, the outcasts? Will you offer the weary a cup of cold water? Will you bind up the wounded? Comfort the brokenhearted? Will you speak words of Life to the dying? Hug a leper? Bring hope to the lost? Show the world God's compassion, mercy and forgiveness? Will you pour out yourself as a LIVING sacrifice? Will you LIVE for Him? The Cheerleader |
