In the Game We're still here, still in the business of "helping churches help people." This month we're loading up Set Free Church at Mile High with building supplies and clothing to bring up to Windsor, Colorado. The families that were hit by last month's tornados there are still struggling to put their lives back together. We're also supplying missionaries who are getting ready to leave for different corners of the world. While less sensational, the many families that we touch on a routine basis through their church homes are the ones that motivate us to do our best.Even while housed in "cramped quarters" we are continuing to distribute two to four TONS of food every month! Hank continues to lead men's bible studies, conduct outreaches, offer training seminars, and hopes to have his second book, "PRAY 15," ready for publication this summer. No slackers in this place! Be advised: if you walk into our office, you just might be put to work! On the Field FREE HEALTH FAIR! Kaiser is offering free medical and dental services on Sunday, Aug 3, from 8am to 3pm at 1375 E. 20th Ave, Denver. There'll be a wide variety of free medical services, from mammograms, diabetes and cardio assessments, to immunizations and children's vision screenings. If you'd like more information or to volunteer, please phone 303-344-7560. Game Strategy Fuel the prayer movement! The International House of Prayer (IHOP) is organizing a massive movement called "The Call DC." They're urging believers all across the United States to come to Washington, DC on August 16, from 10am to 10pm for a day of "United massive fasting an prayer." Check it out at www.thecall.com On a State and local level, you can join us a for a one-day "Glory March." On July 26, 2008 we will be marching with Hispanic congregations to the capitol in a show of unity to pray and celebrate our Lord together. The only flags displayed will be of the United States of America and banners with the Name of Jesus Christ. Just one people, one church, on one day claiming our state for our One God. Travel route will be in next newsletter. Call WINN with questions. Please feel free to print-out and distribute our weekly online newsletter, "Off the Bleachers." We try to fill it with updates on our activities, how you can connect with other ministries, and a message to uplift and help carry you through your week. By sharing this newsletter with others, you could be instrumental in connecting them with resources they need for themselves or their ministry. Pass the word along! The Huddle MUSICIANS NEEDED! We need various worship teams and praise bands who would be interested in participating in one of our monthly outreaches. Call Hank or Pastor Doc at 303-239-9123. Set Free Mile High Church is holding services on Saturday evenings at 5:30 PM at the WINN building: 125 South Kalamath, Denver. Pastor Doc Winters will be speaking. For questions call: 303-239-9123. ALSO note that on the 4th Saturday of every month this congregation will be holding an outreach with City Church in conjunction with WINN at the same location beginning at 3pm. Refreshment Stand WHAT'S A "BAIT SHOP?" We collect new and good used clothing and household items for the Church to distribute to those in need. When someone in your congregation or community needs food, clothing or household goods, your pastor can phone us. We'll do our best to procure as many of those needs that we can. Once we have them assembled, your pastor or designated staff member comes to our office to pick up the items, then delivers them to the person(s) in need. This way it comes from THE CHURCH, not from WINN. We're your "bait shop supply stop," happy to work behind and beside you to reach your community for Christ. If you'd like more details on how we operate, phone Hank at 303-239-9123 or send us an email to the address below. We can do a presentation for your congregation and also provide training for effective neighborhood outreaches. We're glad to help! It's been awhile since we last heard from or saw many of you. If you live near the Denver area, please drop by on Fridays for lunch as our guests. We meet from noon to 1pm at 125 S. Kalamath, Denver. The CheerMy boss has a prophet's call upon his life. Because of it, he can seem driven and even a little "pushy!" It's what happens when God charges a man with delivering His message. No matter how things appear on the outside, my boss never, ever loses sight of his mission: calling the church to get involved. Hank Salmans calls us to unite with our neighbors. His constant challenge and frustration is when local churches don't connect with the people living in their immediate neighborhood. Again and again he shouts, "Unite!" He also shouts for churches to unite with other churches, to be the "one body, one faith" prescribed in Ephesians 4. "People don't feel like they can make a difference. One person can make a difference!" he preaches. The ministry built around his heart is to motivate, encourage and empower the Body of Messiah to impact and affect others around them. Like he says, "I want to give you the ability to do what you're called to do." As long as the Body remains divided, as long as the Church fails to be Christ's hands and feet, this prophet will have to continue to shout his message. Will WINN Ministries die? Sure, someday, but not anytime soon. And even when we have at last given up our ghost, the Holy Ghost will have raised up others to continue pushing, prodding, and encouraging His children to reach out. So go ahead -- "Reach out and touch someone!" The Cheerleader |
