5 Reasons To Never Help Your Fellow Man

#1 - I don't know where to start

Try your next-door neighbor.  Why go to another country, far from your friends, where you might not even speak the language, when you can start right here?  By practicing on your hapless neighbors you can build your confidence and learn valuable lessons while having a safe place to run to close at hand.  Then, once you get used to how this works, you can take your show on the road if you want.

#2 - I don't have the time

Time is a rare commodity.  So don't spend hours wearing yourself out.  Just take 15 minutes.  Knock, drop off a loaf of bread and half a sheet of paper with your church's address and phone number.  Short, simple and to the point.

#3 - I don't have the gift / I'm scared

Of course you're scared, it's a scary thing to do.  So don't go alone.  Take a friend.  Best of all take someone who does like doing this sort of thing, but in a pinch even two inexperienced people can bolster one another's confidence.  And don't forget that the Lord is always with you.

#4 - I don't know what to say

Try "Hello," it's usually a good start.  Don't worry about what to say, scripture says that we'll be given the words when we need them.  In fact it says:

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
- Matthew 10:19-20

So don't worry, the Spirit's a good talker.  All you need to be is friendly and polite.

#5 - I don't have the resources

So you go over, things go well, the Spirit helps you not trip over your own tongue.  Then you find out the people you're speaking to need something: like food or a bed to sleep on.  Like most people you've got all sorts of things in your attic that haven't seen the light of day, but you don't have what they need.
No problem - we do.  That's why we're here, to back you up.  When you find someone in need you just find out what they need (what they really need, not what they want, or would like - I'd like a jet airplane, but I could live happily without one).  Then call us.  If we don't have it we'll keep an eye out for it.
And now you can take them what they need, and when they ask how you got it, great!  You can explain to them about your church and WINN and how all of us who love the Lord work together and are blessed by Him. Now you can show them the gospel, not just talk about it.

See, it's not as bad as it seems is it?
